Community Guidelines

‍

EFFECTIVE AUGUST 2ND, 2019

The Scoop community is built on the belief that together we can improve the commute. Whether it is facilitating meaningful connections between carpoolers, getting more cars off the road, or simply getting you into the HOV lane, every time you get in a Scoop carpool we want you and your fellow carpoolers to be a little happier. Our community guidelines were written to make this mission a reality.

‍

Teamwork

At its core, carpooling is about working together. Without both a rider and a driver, carpools couldn’t exist. That’s why we expect everyone who uses Scoop to be a team player. ‍

How can you practice teamwork?

  • Be reliable
  • Be flexible when possible
  • Communicate your needs and expectations with your fellow carpoolers.

‍What isn’t allowed?

  • Repeatedly being late for carpools
  • Repeatedly being a no-show for carpools

‍

Respect

Sharing a car, a conversation, and a commute with another carpooler is a more pleasant experience when your time, property, and personal space are respected. When you get into a Scoop carpool, you agree to treat everyone with respect.‍

How can you practice respect?

  • Be on time
  • Be inclusive of carpoolers with different backgrounds, opinions, and lifestyles
  • Be thoughtful in how you speak to other carpoolers

What isn’t allowed?

  • Discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, physical or mental disability, medical condition, marital status, age, or sexual orientation
  • Damaging another carpooler’s property
  • Making physical contact without consent
  • Threatening, harassing, or aggressive behavior

Safety

We know you put your trust in us and in one another every time you use Scoop. We take that responsibility seriously and we’re here to ensure you make it to your destination safely. However, we recognize safety is a joint effort, so we expect everyone who uses Scoop to do their part to help keep our community safe.‍

How can you practice safety?

  • Obey traffic laws
  • Respect the match: Pickup and dropoff at the pre-arranged locations, unless all matched carpoolers agree to a different location
  • Respect the match: Only drive with carpoolers who are matched through Scoop
  • Leave feedback after every trip
  • Contact ScoopCare if you need additional support‍

What isn’t allowed?

  • Carpooling with people who were not matched through Scoop
  • Failing to obey traffic laws, including not wearing a seat belt, speeding, and texting while driving
  • Making unwanted contact with carpoolers after your trip
  • Failing to complete a trip
  • Driving without valid car registration and adequate insurance coverage

‍

Authenticity

Authenticity is a key component to building a safe, trusting community. We expect every carpooler to be authentic when engaging with one another and when using Scoop.‍

‍

How can you practice authenticity?

  • Make and use only one account
  • Use your real name and upload a profile picture that makes it easy for other carpoolers to recognize you
  • Keep your account up to date with complete, accurate information
  • Only request fees or funds that you’re entitled to and use offers and promotions only as intended

What isn’t allowed?

  • Engaging in fraudulent behavior, including, but not limited to: using multiple accounts, creating dummy accounts for fraudulent purposes, abusing Scoop’s cancellation or GRH policy, using inaccurate information on your profile, or misrepresenting your identity on your profile or in submitted documents
  • Making false or inaccurate statements when reporting incidents
  • Using another person’s account or allowing another person to use your account

‍

Violating our Terms of Use or community guidelines may result in restricted access or a temporary or permanent ban from Scoop. This may include certain actions carpoolers may take outside of the app, if we determine that those actions threaten the safety of the Scoop community, or cause harm to Scoop’s brand, reputation or business. In addition, serious or repeat reports or refusal to cooperate may cause carpoolers to lose access to Scoop. Any behavior involving violence, sexual misconduct, harassment, discrimination, or illegal activity while using Scoop can result in an immediate ban. For carpoolers who are both riders and drivers, violating our Terms of Use or community guidelines could lead to loss of access to both riding and driving privileges.

How does Scoop enforce its community guidelines?

What should I do if I see behavior that violates Scoop’s community guidelines?

If I’m reporting an incident, what do I include in my report?
